Divorce - Home Affairs Has Not Updated My Status On The National Population Register
The U.S. government relies heavily on Home Affairs "Unabridged" digital records to check identities and prevent marriage fraud. If your marital status on a Department of Home Affairs (DHA) document contradicts your real legal history, the USCIS fraud detection system will flag it.
USCIS accepts a certified final Divorce Decree with the court's official stamp from the South African High Court or Regional Divorce Court over the outdated DHA database.
However, you must provide a written explanatory letter detailing the long delays at Home Affairs, along with your original stamped settlement agreement.
Do not wait for the DHA to update your status on their system before filling out your intake forms. Instead, write down your correct legal status and give them the court decree as your main proof.
With love
