Green Card - When Do I Apply For My Green Card?

To become a lawful permanent resident (get a Green Card) as a refugee, you must apply after you have been physically present in the United States for at least 1 year.

You do this by filing Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status.

You must also be admissible to the United States, your refugee status must still be valid, and you must meet all the other eligibility requirements.

The instructions for Form I-485 (link below) provide important guidance on how to fill out and submit the form properly.
